In this ever-rotting world, there lie two things for certain.
One is that you should never turn your back on an enemy.
The other is that when you sleep, hope for dreams... Dreams bring hope...

After nearly five years, Huli Ikura has finally graced the pages of my gallery in his true anthro furryness. No if's or but's, and not a single deterring demeanor about it. This is Huli, as he was meant to be, and as he was originally seen in my head when I created him that day several years ago...

Huli comes from a post-apocalyptic world where fear and disharmony are but two friendly reminders that you are alive. In a world dominated by poisonous gas, toxic fumes, and harmful UV radiation, mankind built a great city above the ground... spanning several stories high, and housing the population of the entire planet...

Due to the high death rates involved in the toxic poisons (some areas had it worse than others), not many people survived to make it to this great metal multi-layer "pizza" in the sky... But for those that did, a new life awaited them... A life similar to what the planet once promised below... A life in a world where there is no sky... A life where smog and disease run rampart. Earth is nothing like what it was five hundred years ago, when the last World War began... Life seemed so much simpler back then... People longed to make it back to the Surface, just to taste the clean air they read about in their textbooks and fantasy romance novels, or just to run through fields of grass barefoot and enjoy the coolness of the world beneath their feet. Unfortunately, these people would not get that chance, as limited exposure to the Earth's changing atmosphere resulted in high levels of carcinogenic radiation, and suffocating levels of toxic gases.

The city is divided into several layers, each with its own people governed by monetary status. The more money you own, the better housing and living conditions that you have. The lower in the city you go, the worse the pollution, and the worse the contamination caused by diseases.

It is for this reason that "vampires" formed... Strange creatures bestowed with viral complexities that shaped and changed their phenotypic composition down to the genetic level. Their bodies could adapt for speed, or for strength. They could develop extra sensitive hearing, or eyesight far more developed than that of a normal man. But being a "vampire" had its drawbacks as well, and this is what termed these creatures as "vampires:" The need to contain live blood within their bodies. Unfortunately, the only way to obtain blood in this way is by blood transfusion, as simply digesting it would only cause illness and become unfruitful to the "vampire's" purpose. There appears to be no known cure for the vampyric condition. Only those who can avoid being bit or coming into contact with the viral blood can avoid the condition and the benefits and drawbacks this condition causes.

Meet Huli Ikura, a typical resident of 2B-34E--the floor and sector on this sky-borne city. Living on floor 2B of the giant city wasn't too bad... but considering the best and most realistic artificial Earth-like conditions were on floor 7B--well...
Huli is a fox-like creature, with small resemblances to a wolf, due in part to his family's heritage. His father was a wolf, and his mother was a fox. Typical combination for a creature such as himself, although he bears stronger resemblances to his mother's side than he does his father, save for the long red stripe which flows down his tail.
Huli is a busy student attending afternoon classes in 34E's East High School, which is a school for lower middle-class to poor income students. Wealth is scarce here, and those living just barely above or below the poverty line will find instruction here. The place hasn't received much attention in the past, except for a grant in the past five years to update the school's interior to a more modern-look. After all in the year 2586, it is hard to maintain a good look for your school if the structure is nearing a hundred years old.

Huli is an optimistic, smiling, and hopeful individual, despite the high rate of crime, sickness, and death in his area. He's learned to accept the value of living, and to enjoy each day with an open heart. He is a good but gentle individual, who only seeks to one day work with computers designing new technology in one of the higher floors. The black bracelet that he wears is only a mere accessory he obtained from a friend selling black leather bracelets that were custom-made.
Huli is able to use a sword, and is well-practiced at using it. Despite this, there has never been a need for him to swing any sort of a blade at anyone, and his skills with a wooden bokken are far from the things expected of a sword user.
